Summary of Results
direct PCR without increased PCR cycles number from fingermarks successful in 71 % of cases; NGMSElect and Profiles Plus profiling kit were equally effective in obtaining full or partial PCR profiles; standard DNA IQ extraction method did not results in any DNA profile; single source profiles obtained in 36-40 % of cases, additional alleles supposedly derived from secondary DNA transfer; handwashing with water removes all DNA available on hands;
Raised Questions
limitations of directPCR, effect of chemical enhancement methods
Cautionary Remarks
DNA integrity/profile quality n.a.; mixture contribution and source of foreign alleles n.a.; activities during delay (during which all foreign alleles supposedly have been picked up) n.s.; quantification not attempted
