Profiling

Reference Samples

obtained from participants

Profile Interpretation and Mixture Analysis

consensus profile obtained from all alleles detected in a minimum of two out of three amplifications; profiles suitable for database upload: 70% of known individual's alleles detected; threshold for STR profile comparison: 50% of known individual's alleles detected

Profile Quality

mostly 2-person mixtures

Parameter Used for Comparison

number of contributors, % of known individual's alleles detected

Summary of Results

most profiles showed 2 contributors, however, the analysis of all 6 samples per bottle led to a good estimation of the number of people that had touched the bottle (n=3); the sampling approach thus simplified mixture interpretation by reducing the number of contributors for most samples; the amount of cellular material deposited by one individual showed a higher impact on detecting that individual's DNA on the bottle than the order of touching

Raised Questions

N/A

Cautionary Remarks

bottle contact not specified except for duration, thus it cannot be determined whether all individual's touched the same parts of the bottle
